Experiment testing newborns' verbal memory when an interfering word acoustically different from the familiarization word is presented during the retention period. Infants were tested while sleeping. The protocol included (1) First part: - 5 blocks of familiarisation with a 2-syllable word (X) uttered by a female speaker (f1) - 5 blocks of interference with a different 2-syllable word (y) uttered by a female speaker (m1) - 5 blocks of test with either the word X or a new 2-syllable word (Z) uttered by a female speaker (f1) (2) 9 minutes of silence. (3) Second part: It had the same structure as the first part, but for infants that heard the same word (XyX), a new one was presented (XyZ), and for infants that heard a different word (XyZ), the same was presented (XyX) The words and the voices of the first part were different from the second part Group A: Part 1 = XyX, Part 2 = XyZ Group B: Part 1 = XyZ, Part 2 = XyX
