The nirs files are named with the date of acquisition and the starting time and an increasing number (from none to _X) which indicates the order of the files. The NTS device saves a file every 50 minutes. Manual coding of saccades was performed using VirtualDub, except for the last 6 preterm infants at 24 months, who were coded using VirtualDub2. All data and variable labels are in Italian. Each worksheet corresponds to a single participant. Participant worksheets include trial-by-trial coding of the Gap-Overlap task, with saccadic latencies measured in milliseconds (ms). Trials with latency ≥1000 ms or < 80 ms are excluded from analyses. Invalid trials are noted in the NOTE column with explanations for exclusion (e.g., participant not looking at screen, blinks). This file allows computation of mean latencies for Gap and Overlap conditions and the Gap-Overlap effect for each participant. Sheet (II) – coding for analysis, selecting only the 10-second observation window for each phase Only fixations of at least 3 consecutive stimuli are considered. If the infant does not maintain fixation for the full 10 seconds, actual fixation time is recorded. Very brief fixations (<80 ms) are excluded. Only valid blocks containing at least one Set Size 1 and one Set Size 2 are included in the analyses.
